Data Storage
Kepler stores all user data locally on your machine. No data is sent to external servers or third parties. Your notes, profile information, and account credentials remain under your control at all times.
Account Data
When you create an account, your username and a securely hashed password are stored in a local users.json file on your machine. Passwords are hashed using scrypt with a random salt before storage.
Authentication Tokens
Session tokens are stored in your browser's localStorage or sessionStorage depending on your "Stay signed in" preference. These tokens are used solely for authentication with your local backend server.
Avatar Images
Avatar images are stored as base64 data URLs in your local profile. No image data is transmitted to external services.
Network
The Kepler backend runs on your local machine. Communication between your browser and the backend occurs over your local network. No data is transmitted over the public internet unless you have configured your network to expose the service externally.
Third-Party Services
Kepler uses Google Fonts (Press Start 2P) for typography. Your browser may request this font from Google's servers when loading the landing page.
